CHARLOTTE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICEa week agoAgencyJune 27, 2024 – Englewood, FL A man was arrested on multiple charges including money laundering and maintaining gambling establishments in Englewood. In recent months, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Florida Gaming Commission has allocated efforts and resources to stop illegal gambling activity that has been on the rise. In an effort to continue to close these establishments for good, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into the Tiffany Square Bingo Hall in Englewood. A search warrant was obtained and resulted in the seizure of approximately 196 electronic gaming machines and the doors being permanently closed. Information gathered from the Tiffany Square investigation was helpful in investigating another Englewood location, the Cornerstone Arcade. It was discovered that both Tiffany Square and Cornerstone were owned and operated by the same man, Salim Qadir (03/21/1971). “You would think that after multiple warnings, and the closure of similar establishments in Charlotte County the message would be crystal clear. It seems that this individual didn’t hear us, so I’ll go ahead and repeat it for everyone just in case. If you are choosing to operate an illegal gaming establishment in my county close the doors, or we will close them for you.” – SHERIFF BILL PRUMMELL A nationwide arrest warrant was issued, and through collaborative efforts with authorities in Forsyth, Georgia, Qadir was located and arrested. He is currently being held on $256,000 bond and is charged with the following. CHARLOTTE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICEa week agoAgencyJune 27, 2024 - Englewood, FL A man who fled the scene of a vehicle burglary, leaving his Burger King order behind, has been arrested. On Friday, June 14, 2024, deputies responded to a call at Bay Heights Park in Englewood shortly after 10:00pm in which a man stated that he and his friends discovered someone breaking into their vehicle after they had been out on a boat. As the victim approached the vehicle, he could see that the rear window had been smashed out. The male suspect inside the vehicle, later identified as Vladimir Belyshev, Jr. (6/16/1981), fled on foot toward S. McCall Rd. as the victim attempted to confront him. The suspect left behind an e-bike with a silver cup attached containing an unknown alcoholic beverage and ice, along with a backpack full of clothes, an energy drink, cold Bud Light, and a fresh Burger King order containing 3 double-bacon cheeseburgers and a chicken sandwich (which were still hot). These items were collected and submitted as evidence. Through investigative means, detectives were able to determine that Belyshev, on the same e-bike, had stopped at the Dearborn Corner Market nearby and purchased two Bud Light cans and another beverage from the business. He also entered the business with a silver cup, matching that of the one located on the e-bike at the scene, and filled it with ice while inside. The local Burger King was unable to provide any record of the order that had been left behind. Deputies located Belyshev on June 26 at his jobsite and spoke with him about the incident. While questioning Belyshev, he gave a full confession to that crime as well as two others, including one in Sarasota County's jurisdiction. "While some may not find this to be a 'Whopper' of a case, I can assure you that those who had their belongings taken and their windows smashed certainly do. The commercial might say 'Have it your way', but in Charlotte County, you can only have it if you have earned it. Now this 'Big King' is residing in a new castle... my Charlotte County Jail." - Sheriff Bill Prummell In addition to two out-of-county warrants, Belyshev is being held at the Charlotte County Jail without bond on the following charges: Burglary of Unoccupied Conveyance (Felony) x2 Criminal Mischief with more than $1000 Damage (Felony) x2 Criminal Mischief between $200 - $1000 (Misdemeanor) LARC Petit Theft 2nd Degree (Misdemeanor) x2 Grand Theft of a Firearm (Felony) Violation of Probation72Like22

CHARLOTTE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICEa week agoAgencyJune 26, 2024 - Port Charlotte, FL A pair of females, living in the country illegally, were arrested in Port Charlotte and have been determined to be part of an organized retail theft ring. Shortly after 3:00pm on Tuesday, June 25, deputies received a call from an employee of the Burlington Store, located at 19400 Cochran Blvd. in Port Charlotte. The caller advised that there were two Hispanic females in the act of committing theft. The females loaded just over $400 worth of stolen merchandise into a 2024 Hyundai Tucson in the parking lot, which had California license plates. At that time, Charlotte County Sheriff's Office Road Patrol deputies arrived on scene and detained the women. Inside the vehicle, deputies observed large amounts of clothing with tags from Marshall's and Ross clothing stores in plain view. The females were identified as Carla Stephany Soto Araneda (11/29/1990) and Genesi Michael Flores Reyes (10/27/1991). The suspects were in possession of tools used to remove anti-theft devices from retail merchandise. Both females were transported to the CCSO District 2 Office to be interviewed, where they each provided full confessions. The suspects' vehicle was secured and towed to the CCSO Impound Lot where a search warrant was later executed. The search resulted in a total stolen merchandise value of $6,255.95, broken down as $2,703.86 from Marshall's, $3,134.32 from Ross, and $417.77 from Burlington. "I'm not sure why the message isn't getting through to these out-of-towners that think they are going to come into Charlotte County, commit crimes, and get away with it. We have proven, multiple times, that it won't fly here. Although I try not to make a habit of giving criminals advice, I do want to suggest that if they are passing through my county, just pass right on through. Don't even stop... don't try your nonsense here." - Sheriff Bill Prummell Through investigative means, detectives determined that the suspects traveled to Florida from California and had been all over the state, to include Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando, and Miami. Further investigation revealed that they are living in the country illegally. Both are being held at the Charlotte County and Border Patrol has been contacted.163Like75
